Peaches are in Season!

Peach Cobbler Smoothie

INGREDIENTS

2 cups frozen peach slices
1 – 1 1/2 cups liquid of choice (almond, coconut, cashew or regular milk would all work fine)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 tablespoons old fashioned oats
1 tablespoon ground flax seed, hemp or chia seed
1-2 tablespoons honey (start with one, add more if necessary)

DIRECTIONS

Add the peach slices, 1 cup liquid, cinnamon, vanilla, oats, flax seed, and honey to a blender. Blend until smooth. Add additional liquid or honey, as needed, to reach desired consistency.

Serve and enjoy!

How Can I Adapt the Basic Recipe?

This recipe is easily customizable. Here are some swaps or tweaks to consider:

  • Don’t have frozen peaches? Try using some peach juice or fresh peaches, with another frozen fruit or ice to deliver on the cold factor.
  • No Peaches? Use apricots, nectarines or mango.
  • Substitute your favorite protein powder in place of chia seeds, hemp seeds and flax seeds.
  • Not in the mood for warming spices? Try a big squeeze of lemon or lime juice for a zesty version of this smoothie.
  • Boost the veg factor frozen riced cauliflower or a handful of kale or spinach.

Recipe Tips

  • For a thicker consistency, use more frozen fruit.
  • Stock up on extra peaches while they’re ripe and in season!  Freeze them in wedges on a cookie tray in a singe layer and then bag them up so you have summer all year long.
  • For a creamier consistency, I use raw cashews, but JOI brand cashew or almond milk base is so awesome and easy and you don’t need as much. A tablespoon with water goes a long way to creamy!
