Have you tried to do a pushup lately? How did that go? Were you able to do one? They are not easy and sometimes it can be a bit discouraging to do a particular movement and find you are unable to do what you may have once been able to do without even thinking about it.
Well, I am here to tell you that you can do anything if you set your mind to it. You just have to know where to start. And that includes the movement of PUSHUPS! We cannot just start out doing a pushup in the full on pushup position if we haven’t attempted to do them in years. We have to start small so as not to overdo it, and work up to it over time. And that is why I am so excited for us to be doing a PUSHUP CHALLENGE this Fall.
Join me for a Live BEGINNER PUSHUP CHALLENGE Demo and Q&A on Zoom
When: Thursday, September 2nd at 8:30am (before Strength Training class – use the same log in for the Demo!)
Why: I will give a short demo of the four PushUp positions we will get into during the course of the 12 weeks of the Challenge. After the Demo, we will hold a Q&A for more info and clarification. If you have a question, please ask! Now is the time.
>WHO IS THIS CHALLENGE FOR?
This BEGINNER PUSHUP CHALLENGE is for anyone who wants to try it, no matter your age or fitness level right now or whether you can even do one pushup today.
If you are little more advance and can do pushups, that is great! This CHALLENGE will help you improve your form and get you to YOUR next level.
Our goal is to get participants to do one good solid push up by the end of the challenge.
>WHEN DOES IT START?
This CHALLENGE meets on ZOOM three times a week on Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays at 8:45am, BEFORE Strength Training class, and runs for 12 weeks starting Monday, September 6th through Tuesday, November 23.
There is no sign up required. You just log into the Strength Training class you would normally take fifteen minutes before the start of class and voila! You are in!
You can attend any and all days…it is your workout, after all, and you have total control over when you participate.
>What if I don’t take Strength Training with you but want to do the Challenge?
No worries! This PUSHUP CHALLENGE is open to all who would like to participate, free of charge.
For those of you who are not taking Strength Training with me but want to participate should sign up at one or both of the links below:

>What if I have an injury or I am recovering from surgery?
If you are recovering from an injury or surgery, please get clearance from your doctor and PT practitioners BEFORE you try participating in this challenge. They know your progress and they are the experts on your healing process and can offer you medical advice about doing this challenge.
The most common issues are putting weight and pressure on the wrist and shoulder joints and swaying in the lower back. You know your body better than anyone and what you are currently capable of doing. Please take the time to come to the DEMO and Q&A session on Thursday, September 2nd to see what positions we will be in and if it is something you will be able to do. There are four positions to choose from, and we will rotate from one position to the next on a weekly basis.
If you have issues in any of the common areas listed above, this challenge may not be for you. However, you can always stick with the ONE position that does work best for you instead of doing all four. You have options. You MUST honor any chronic pain or injuries you may have and how you feel on any given day. It is up to you to put those options in place or make the choice to opt out. This is not a mandatory program and you are participating at your own risk.
